4 injured in car crash Sunday near Fred Meyer

The cars were totalled but the injuries weren’t considered serious.

A car crash Sunday evening near Fred Meyer left two cars destroyed and four people with minor injuries, according to a Juneau Police Department news release.

A Dodge driven by 76-year-old Norman Nelson turned from Egan Drive towards Old Dairy Road and was struck by a Ford driven by an 18-year-old woman in the outbound lane of Egan Drive, said Lt. Krag Campbell in the release.

There was one passenger in the car with Nelson and three passangers in the Ford, Campbell said.

Nelson and his passanger, as well as two passengers from the ford, were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for injuries, none of which were considered serious at the time of the release, Campbell said. Both vehicles are presumably totalled.

Both outbound lanes of Egan were closed for half an hour while emergency personnel handled the crash. Nelson was cited for failing to yield and for lacking insurance.
