Valley resident facing meth distribution charges

Police also investigating variety of stolen items in home of Patrick Hill

A Juneau man is facing felony charges after he admitted to intending to distribute methamphetamine in Juneau, according to charging documents. Police are also currently investigating a number of stolen items found in his house, according to a Juneau Police Department press release.

At about 2 p.m. Sept. 7, the Juneau Police Department’s drug enforcement officers delivered a package to the home of Patrick Dennis Hill, 50, in the 4100 block of Aspen Avenue in the Mendenhall Valley, according to a JPD press release. The drug enforcement unit had intercepted the package the previous evening, police say, and found 28 grams of meth inside. Canine Officer Buddy alerted police to the meth, the release states.

JPD Officer Carl Lundquist filed a report, stating that Hill accepted and opened the package once it was dropped off at his house. Police had removed most of the meth prior to delivering it, and there were only 3.2 grams remaining by the time it got to Hill, Lundquist wrote.

Police approached Hill, and Hill admitted to knowing the package contained meth and to intending to distribute the meth to another person who was on scene, Lundquist wrote. The other person on scene, who was not named in either charging documents or the JPD release, admitted to police that they were there to buy meth from Hill, Lundquist wrote.

Hill was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center, having been charged with the class B felony of second-degree drug misconduct.

While they were on scene, police noticed several items inside the home that they recognized as stolen property, according to the release. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found several items they confirmed were from various burglaries, thefts and car riflings around Juneau, according to the release. The investigation into the stolen property is ongoing, police say.

Hill was released on Saturday, according to electronic court records, and appeared in court Tuesday, wearing a black tee-shirt and white overalls. Hill was arraigned over the weekend, attorneys and Judge Nancy Nolan said in court Tuesday. His next hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sept. 27, Nolan ruled.
