Support breastfeeding by ‘latching on’ this Saturday

For the first time, Juneau is participating in the Big Latch On, a global celebration promoting and supporting breastfeeding. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Dimond Park Field House.

Locally organized by the Juneau Breastfeeding Alliance, the Big Latch On is a gathering of women breastfeeding, or pumping, and offering peer support. The event celebrates World Breastfeeding Week.

The Juneau Breastfeeding Alliance is a group of individuals and health care organizations, like Bartlett Regional Hospital, Juneau Public Health Center and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program at SEARHC.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with breastfeeding to begin at 10:30. The Big Latch on is a family friendly event, offering door prizes and access to toys and a bouncy house.

Light snacks will be provided in the mezzanine area where you can meet some of Juneau’s breastfeeding experts and learn more about the support available here in town.
