The Juneau Police Department arrested a man Tuesday on multiple charges related to sending sexually explicit videos to a minor in 2020.

Randy James Williard, 35, was arrested for second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, third-degree sexual abuse of a minor and distribution of indecent materials to a minor, all felonies, said Lt. Krag Campbell in a news release.

On March 20, 2020, Juneau Police Department received a report that a 35-year-old had sent sexually explicit videos of himself, to a 15-year-old girl, according to police. JPD detectives began an investigation into the allegations and after completing the investigation, referred the case to the Juneau District Attorney’s Office.

“It is typical for these types of cases to have lengthy investigations. It’s due to the severity of the allegations and possible complexity of the case,” Campbell said in an email. “COVID also hit right around this time as well, so I think that added some additional time.”

Williard was indicted on Jan. 21, 2021, and a $10,000 warrant was issued for his arrest, Campbell said. On Tuesday, Williard was localized at his residence on the 8400 block of Thunder Mountain Road, arrested, and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was held on $10,000 bail, Campbell said.
