Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to a house fire in the Mendenhall Valley Wednesday afternoon, and extinguished the blaze in just a few minutes.

CCFR Assistant Fire Chief Ed Quinto said CCFR received the 911 call at 4:05 p.m. for a fire at 4486 Columbia Boulevard. Neighbors called 911 after seeing smoke coming out of the first floor of the two-story home and hearing fire alarms.

A woman was in the home at the time, and was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation injuries, CCFR captain Sam Russell said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
