Letter: The PFD is a gift

The Webster Dictionary defines “gift” as “Something given without payment in return as to show favor toward someone . . .”

Doesn’t that sound like the Permanent Fund Dividend?

And what did we do to earn the PFD other than to be a bona fide resident of Alaska? Now that the state is searching for a plan to reduce the $4 billion deficit, perhaps this might be a time for the citizens to do their part and give up the PFD.
