So much for Republicans’ promises to repeal Obamacare. Instead, they have pulled a bait-and-switch, slashing Medicaid while leaving most of the Obamacare framework in place. Medicaid pays for things like childbirth and senior care and has worked well since it was created in 1965. Why would Republicans protect Obamacare policies but cut millions of Americans off of Medicaid? Because that’s how they want to pay for millionaires’ and billionaires’ tax cuts. Tax cuts for millionaires, at the expense of Medicaid-funded childbirths and senior care, are a moral abomination. Hundreds of Alaskans are likely to die prematurely when they lose Medicaid-funded care. Can our Senators live with that on their conscience? We’ll see.
