TMHS boys drop two games by fewer than 10 points

The Thunder Mountain High School boys basketball team went to overtime with the Barrow Whalers Friday, but was outscored 10-3 in extra time to ultimately fall in its second game at the Dimond Prep Shootout in Anchorage.

The Falcons lost 63-70 while going 7-for-20 in 3-point shooting on the game.

Senior guard Chase Saviers led his team in defeat with 22 points on four 3-pointers, three field goals and a 4-for-5 performance from the line. Riley Olsen followed with 16 and both Noah Reishus-O’Brien and John Morris added 10.

Anthony Fruean scored 23 points for the Whalers, with Travis Adams putting up 17.

FALCONS 44, MOOSE 45 (Thursday)

Down nine with three minutes left in the game, the Falcons’ Luke Clark scored eight straight points to pull Thunder Mountain to within a score and nine seconds left, but Thursday’s contest against Palmer at the Dimond Prep Shootout in Anchorage didn’t end in the Falcons’ favor.

TMHS missed two good looks in the closing seconds to end its first match at the tournament 45-44.

Thunder Mountain’s Chase Saviers led his team — and the game — with 16 points on five 3-pointers and a foul shot. Noah Reishus-O’Brien followed Saviers with 13 and Clark added 10.

Palmer’s Clayton Southwick led his team with 14 points.

Saviers and Southwick were named players of the game.
