Thunder Mountain High School graduate Maxie Saceda-Hurt is the Juneau Empire player of the week.
Saceda-Hurt churned out nine hits — including a grand slam — on the last day of the state tournament in Fairbanks. Saceda-Hurt and her fellow seniors took home their third consecutive state championship with a 12-0 win over Ketchikan. The Falcons are 64-11 overall and 16-1 in the state tournament over the last three seasons.
Saceda-Hurt will take her talents next season to Simpson College, an NCAA Division III program in Indianola, Iowa.
