A note from the Editor’s desk: People of Juneau

Juneau is full of people who add sunshine to our town and make Juneau, well, Juneau.

We think those people should be in the newspaper.

I’m pleased to announce a new segment for the Empire: People of Juneau. It’s a once a month profile of a local resident — someone who has had a positive impact on Juneau, an unsung hero, or perhaps just a colorful character.

If you know someone who fits the bill, please nominate him or her, and we’ll write a news story about them. I’m also happy to announce Ray Friedlander, a Douglas-based writer, will be writing the profiles.

To nominate someone, email editor@juneauempire.com with “People of Juneau” in the subject line. Please include your name and contact information, the name of the person you are nominating and their contact information, the reason for the nomination and any other pertinent information.
