Two Juneau residents arrested on drug charges at airport

The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of $111,300.

Two Juneau residents were arrested on drug charges after arriving at the Juneau International Airport from Seattle on Wednesday night, according to the Juneau Police Department.

Stacie Lorraine Beach, 43, and Ronald Dean Phillips, 61, of Juneau were charged with second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, a class A felony, according to a JPD news release.

On Wednesday, April 12 at approximately 11 p.m., members of the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs task force, contacted Beach and Phillips who were believed to be carrying narcotics as they traveled from Seattle to Juneau. During the investigation, SEACAD officers located 10,950 blue fentanyl pills, labeled with the markings, “M/30” and approximately 1 ounce of fentanyl powder inside the pair’s luggage. The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of $111,300.

After seizing the narcotics, Beach and Phillips were taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for both for 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21, according to the Alaska Court System.
