Sullivan to speak at GOP national convention

JUNEAU — A spokesman for U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan says the Alaska Republican will be speaking at the GOP’s national convention this week in Ohio.

Sullivan spokesman Mike Anderson says Sullivan is scheduled to speak Tuesday evening. He says Sullivan will speak about the importance of keeping the Senate in Republican control and having a Republican once again in the White House.

Anderson says Sullivan will be joined onstage by nine fellow freshman Republican senators. Sullivan was elected to the Senate in 2014 after beating Democratic Sen. Mark Begich.

Sullivan is the lone member of Alaska’s congressional delegation who plans to attend the convention, which begins Monday in Cleveland. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Don Young plan to be in Alaska during the event.
