September shooting makes Crime of the Week

Police are still seeking information related to an early morning shooting that took place in Auke Bay late last month.

The Juneau Police Department dredged up the old crime — and released some new details, courtesy of a witness account — in Wednesday’s edition of Crime of the Week.

According to police, the shooting took place in the 13000 block of Glacier Highway at about 8 a.m. Sept. 24. Nobody was injured, but police do believe the shooting to be intentional.

A witness allegedly saw a red car pull up to a mobile home near the Auke Bay Ferry Terminal. An occupant of the vehicle then fired several 12-gauge shotgun rounds into the mobile home before leaving the area “at a high rate of speed,” according to the Crime of the Week summary.

Two people — a 41-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman — were in the mobile home at the time of the shooting, the only casualty of which was one of their windows. The home’s occupants, whom JPD didn’t name, told police they didn’t hear the shot that took out their window nor do they know who was shooting at them.

Anybody with information about the shooting is encouraged to call JPD at 586-0600. Tips can also be submitted via the Juneau Crime line website at juneaucrimeline.com. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and could be eligible for a reward.
