Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Juneau will go door to door, collecting nonperishable and canned food items as part of the “Scouting for Food Campaign” Saturday. The donated food will go to the Southeast Alaska Foodbank for distribution or directly to food pantries at Resurrection Lutheran and Douglas United Methodist churches.

Scouts will distribute grocery bags with fliers describing “Scouting for Food” to homes around the city this week. Those wanting to contribute should fill the bags and leave them on their doorstep for pickup between 10 a.m. and noon Saturday.

Contributions for those who will not receive a visit from the the Scouts may be delivered before 2 p.m. on Saturday or any weekday morning at the food bank at: 10020 Crazy Horse Drive, just past Don Abel Building Supply. The food bank may be contacted at 789-6184.

Any questions about Scouting for Food can be directed to Chris Gianotti Maritime, District Scouting for Food Chair, 790-2557.
