The Juneau School District and Juneau Police Department are on alert today after three students told police that a fourth student had threatened to bring a gun to Thunder Mountain High School and open fire.
Extra security has been put in place at the school, and the parents of the student accused of the threat have been informed. The student has been told to stay away from school and “not to be on any Juneau School District property,” JSD Chief of Staff Kristin Bartlett wrote in an email early Monday morning.
The three Thunder Mountain students reported the threat on Saturday.
JPD talked with the 17-year-old boy who allegedly made the threats.
Lt. David Campbell, a spokesman for the Juneau Police Department, said that “at this point, there are not enough facts for an arrest or a custodial hold.”
Classes are continuing as scheduled.
