Police arrest wanted man, two others for unrelated warrants

Since early this month, Derick Nathaniel Skultka has been a wanted man for a parole violation. On Tuesday night, the Juneau Police Department found and arrested the 35-year-old Juneau resident, according to a JPD release, and arrested two other men with warrants in the process.

JPD officers served a search warrant at an apartment in the 9300 block of Glacier Highway at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and found two men with arrest warrants — 29-year-old Juneau man Musa Albert Marenah and 27-year-old Juneau man Curtis Rocco Mangusso. Police arrested them and also recovered a stolen firearm that was in the apartment, according to the release.

Marenah had a $20,000 Alaska State Troopers warrant for a felony probation violation. Marenah’s original charge was for dealing heroin, to which he pleaded guilty in 2012. Mangusso had two $500 AST warrants for not appearing in court, with original charges of driving under the influence.

Soon afterward, JPD officers found Skultka nearby. Skultka, whose original charges were for fourth-degree weapons misconduct and reckless driving, tried to flee. Officers ended up stopping Skultka and arresting him, according to the release. All three men were taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

This wasn’t the first time Skultka has fled from police. In 2015, Skultka was also at large after he crashed his car into a McDonald’s drive-thru and took off on foot. He had three warrants out for this arrest at the time. Two were for not showing up to court hearings in connection to a burglary and first-degree assault and one was for a felony drug charge. Police found and arrested him a few days later.
