Children who are 5 years old by Sept. 1 can register for kindergarten this Friday.
Registration Day for new elementary, middle and Yaakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School students, and kindergarteners is Aug. 5 at neighborhood schools. Stop by and register your child during the school day. Please bring birth certificate, shot records and school transcripts.
New high school students at Juneau-Douglas and Thunder Mountain high schools can register now. Orientation at both schools takes place between Aug. 9 through Aug. 11; check the district website for more specifics. An event for freshmen is taking place Aug. 12.
The first day of school for grades one through 12 is Wednesday, Aug. 17. Kindergartners start Monday, Aug. 22 and first day for pre-kindergarten is Wednesday, Aug. 24.
The Juneau School District still has a few openings in grades one to two at Montessori Borealis and grades two to six at the Juneau Community Charter School.
