Juneau man in prison on federal weapons charges gets 13 years on additional state charges

Clyde Pasterski, 44, was convicted by a jury last November for drug and assault offenses.

A Juneau man was sentenced to 13 years in prison for multiple drug, assault and other charges, which will run concurrent with the remainder of a 6½-year sentence he is serving for federal weapons charges, the Alaska Department of Law announced Friday.

Clyde Pasterski, 44, faced up to 36 years in prison following his conviction by a jury last November on multiple state charges of misconduct involving controlled substances, second-degree attempted escape, two counts of felony fear assault, one count of fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest, according to a press release release issued by the law department.

Pasterski was arrested in May 2020 after the Juneau Police Department executed a search warrant at his residence following Pasterski’s detainment at a traffic stop, the Empire previously reported. Officers investigating the residence found 13 firearms, one stolen, eight seal bombs, a plate carrier with steel plates, four grams of heroin and two grams of methamphetamine.

While being placed under arrest, JPD reported Pasterski attempted to grab an officer’s sidearm and was subsequently struck by a baton, according to the law department’s press release.

He was sentenced in May of 2022 to six-and-a-half years in federal prison for firearm-related charges in the incident.

During an April 17 sentencing hearing on the state charges, Assistant District Attorney Jessalyn Gillum “asked the court to consider the severity of defendant’s behavior, notably with respect to the escape and assault charges,” according to the Department of Law press release. Juneau Superior Court Judge Larry Woolford sentenced Pasterski to a total sentence of 18 years of incarceration, with five years suspended, followed by 10 years of felony probation.
