ANCHORAGE — A former educator at the University of Alaska Anchorage is going to prison for possessing and distributing child pornography.
KTUU-TV reported Curtis Osterhoudt received a partially-suspended sentence last week that puts him in prison for two years.
Assistant Attorney General Adam Alexander said the former assistant professor of astronomy and physics had hundreds of pornographic images on a laptop and other devices.
Alexander said there is no evidence Osterhoudt had contact with local kids, but his actions further victimized the children in the images.
Osterhoudt started teaching at the university in August 2012 and resigned in January 2014.
He was arrested in April 2014 and pleaded not guilty.
Attorney Phillip Shanahan said his client acknowledges the pain his actions caused to the people involved in the images and videos.
