Flyover scheduled for Friday

Not a fly-by-night effort.

Juneau is among a handful of communities scheduled for a Friday flyover, according to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

In the early afternoon of May 15, two C-17 Globemaster IIIs will fly over Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Cordova, Valdez and Palmer, JBER said in a Facebook post.

The flyover is a salute and thank-you to health care workers, first responders and other essential personnel, according to the post. The flyover involves aircraft from the Air Force and Air National Guard.

Detailed flight routes and estimated flight times will be shared the day before the flyover.
