Cruz joins Alaska Republican primary

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas and a prospect to become the Republican presidential candidate in 2016, has filed for Alaska’s March 1 primary.

The filing was announced Monday by the Alaska Republican Party.

Cruz is the second candidate to file for the Republican primary. Ohio Gov. John Kasich was the first, on Oct. 23.
