FILM

Documentary Premiere & Forum: The Flying University, 6:30-8 pm, Thursday, Feb. 18, KTOO building. The premiere of „The Flying University,‰ a short film that takes viewers inside a literature and philosophy class at Juneau‚s Lemon Creek Correctional Center led by Sol Neely, a professor at UAS. Followed by a forum at 7 pm, moderated by documentary producer Scott Burton. Admission is free.

 

Sound and Motion Arts and Culture Series: Film Treasures from the State Library, 7 pm, Friday, Feb. 19, Egan Lecture Hall, UAS. A collection of films from the State Library’s historical film and video collections. Details: http://www.uas.alaska.edu/sound_motion/

 

Free Flight Film Festival, 6:30-8:30 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 23, Goldtown Nickelodeon. Fundraiser for Trail Mix and Juneau Raptor Center. Beverages provided courtesy of Alaskan Brewery. Five short movies on free flight. Donations accepted at the door.

EVENTS

Day of Remembrance: The Empty Chair, 5:30-7:30 pm, Friday, Feb. 19, Mendenhall Valley Public Library. In conjunction with the satellite exhibit “The Empty Chair and World War II in Juneau,” museum staff will share stories of Juneauites impacted by the removal of Japanese-Americans after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
