Letter: Thanks for support at annual church BBQ

Family Promise of Juneau would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for all the support at the second annual BBQ at Sandy Beach in August. Thank you to the Thunder Mountain National Honor Society for serving, Randy Sutak for smoking the meat, and David Morris for making the potato salad and beans with donations from Super Bear. Breeze-in donated the tasty buns and over one hundred people got to enjoy a beautiful day. We are thankful for all who donated auction items -Alaska Airlines; Alaska Seaplanes; Coastal Helicopters; Shrine of St. Therese; Soapy and Jill Lingle; Vickie Gartley, Platinum Real Estate; Coeur Alaska; Kirsten Shelton, quilled.org; The Grind Coffee Co.; Heritage Coffee Co.; Alaska Dames; Alice Gates; Katti Carlson-Ridges, Beads, and Dreams; Friends of the Juneau Community Garden; Sam Adams Design; Sean Huntley Wood Crafts; and Cindy Hudson.

Thank you to Katti Carlson and Jennifer Skinner for their work. After a transition in leadership, Family Promise of Juneau is ready to open with Gabi Richardson and Kelsey Sparks guiding the program. Please call (907) 500-3032 for more information.

Family Promise is a community response for families experiencing homelessness by providing hospitality in area churches. Guests receive hospitality and three meals a day from congregational volunteers. Family Promise care navigators work with guest parents to ensure they can regain their self-sufficiency.
