Holiday Pops call for singers

Everyone who likes to sing is invited to join the Holiday Pops chorus for its ninth season. Sponsored by the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, there are no auditions and no fees, only the desire to participate in this annual presentation of seasonal music for the enjoyment of the community. Performances will be on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Egan Library on the University of Alaska Southeast campus and on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center.

Concert music includes both secular and sacred titles with such favorites as “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” and “Joy to the World.” The chorus will be joined again by the Holiday Pops Brass and by students from the Juneau Alaska Music Matters program.

Rehearsals begin on Sunday, Oct. 23 and are twice weekly until the concerts. Sunday rehearsals are from 3-5:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 23 at the JACC. Tuesday rehearsals are from 6:45-9 p.m. at Glacier Valley Elementary School. Sally Smith is directing with Lorrie Heagy and Missouri Smyth at the piano.

Singers may join by coming to rehearsals or may sign up in advance and pick up a packet of music at the JACC.

For more information contact the JACC or Sally Smith at 364-2401.
