Fourth of July Grand Marshal selected

The Juneau 4th of July Committee selected Sharon Gaiptman as the 2016 Parade Grand Marshal.

Gaiptman has lived in Juneau for 35 years. She has worked for KTOO-TV, the University of Alaska Southeast, the Division of Tourism and the Alaska Marine Highway. She formed Gaiptman Communications in 2005. She has worked for local and statewide organizations and is a daily fixture on KINY’s Capital Chat which she produces year-round and hosts when in town.

According to Jean Sztuk, the parade committee director, this year’s theme is patriotism. “The broad definition of our theme is ‘bringing communities, states and nations together.” The committee unanimously felt Sharon’s been bringing our community together for many years. We’re delighted she’s accepted the honor.”
