The Juneau Public Libraries celebrated the Bookmark Contest with participating children in November. This event is sponsored each year by the Friends of the Juneau Public Libraries. A panel of volunteer judges reviewed 1,039 entries and chose one winner and two honorable mentions for each grade level, preschool through eighth grade. Children received gift certificates donated by The Amazing Bookstore and Hearthside Books. Printed bookmarks are available at any public library.

The winners:

• Preschool – Annabelle Woodruff. Honorable Mentions: Knox Francis, Eddy Schwarz

• Kindergarten – Tavia Carlile. Honorable Mentions: Xavannah Johnson, Jarry Maghinay

• First Grade – Miley Andrews. Honorable Mentions: Abigail Fay, Riley Baker Schultz

• Second Grade – Gwen Nizich. Honorable Mentions: Jack Howell, Ellis Gottschlich

• 3rd Grade – Capriel Vallentyne. Honorable Mentions: Elijah Goins, Ida Meyer

• Fourth Grade – Sophia Owen. Honorable Mentions: Elizabeth Djajalie, Emily DelGado

• Fifth Grade – Maddy Roemeling. Honorable Mentions: Nettle Hart, Kaden Jim

• Sixth Grade – Nancy Liddle. Honorable Mention: Xandor Beck, Becky Grube

• Seventh Grade – Virginia Potts. Honorable Mentions: Leilani Strom, Isaac Schlosser

• Eighth Grade – Jacqalynn Vonda. Honorable Mentions: Sierra Lloyd, Melia Lu Trousil
