25-year anniversary celebration of the Tongass Timber Reform Act
Southeast Alaska Conservation Council is hosting a party on March 5 and the public is invited.
This celebration is for the 25-year anniversary of the Tongass Reform Act, the significant piece of conservation legislation signed by George H. W. Bush which repealed the timber subsidy, cut the timber supply mandate and set aside 1.4 million acres of prime salmon-producing forest watersheds.
For the event, there will be free wine, beer and food. The hosts will supply the main dish and guests are asked to bring additional dishes potluck style. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and dancing will be around 7:30 p.m. with music by Susu and the Prophets.
There will be a live auction of original print artwork by artist Ray Troll.
