Opinion: Les Gara stands out in gubernatorial race

Here’s why

If the right of people to choose how to manage their health and wellbeing is important to you, there is only one candidate who has a consistently prochoice record. In case you are wondering — that’s Les Gara. The other two candidates are simply not prochoice — Mike Dunleavy is egregiously anti-choice. If broadly and deeply educating our children and protecting our communities is important to you, consider that Les Gara is the only gubernatorial candidate who has sponsored legislation that would have kept school funding up with inflation. Les has introduced legislation that would re-instate pensions for teachers and firefighters, and as governor would do so again. If re-organizing the fiscal structure for directing oil and land lease dollars to Alaskans (instead of to multi-national corporations) is important to you, there is only one candidate who not only has a plan, but has consistently voted for funding renewable energy infrastructure and capturing more of Alaska’s oil wealth for the people. Further, Les Gara’s plan presses forward into a cleaner, greener future.
