Letter: JDHS was the high school during stable times; keep it that way if consolidation occurs

In order to financially maintain the high quality of education, tradition and standards of Alaska, Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé High should be the high school and Thunder Mountain should be the junior high school.

The reasoning behind this is before Thunder Mountain became a high school in Juneau, the Juneau School District budget was financially stable (if it was not, the school district would not have had the money to finance a new high school). After making Thunder Mountain a second high school in Juneau, over time the Juneau School Board budget has become financially unstable and in debt.

So this tells me that it was Thunder Mountain that brought down the standard of not only education, but financially, is what caused the Juneau district to be unstable financially. As you see, my suggestion of keeping JDHS as a high school and changing Thunder Mountain to a junior high school not only will start to stabilize the school district budget, but will keep the traditions and history of Juneau alive for the world to see, and for the future students to feel proud of the traditions of Juneau.
