Take a break from the kitchen and Facetime with the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5-kilometer and 1-mile run/walk.

The fundraiser for Juneau Teens for Change and the Juneau-Douglas High School hockey team begins at 9:30 and 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

The 1-mile group will leave from the start of the Airport Trail first; the 5K group will follow. The 5K runs at $15 and 1 mile at $10. Race-day registration begins at 9 a.m. at the trail.

Pre-register for the run at Foggy Mountain Shop or Nugget Alaskan Outfitters.

Juneau Teens for Change is a group of high school students preparing to help in the relief efforts in Nepal. In April of 2015, a major earthquake shook Nepal, killing 9,000 people and injuring hundreds of thousands. The Juneau teens will be rebuilding schools in Kathmandu, the largest city in the country with over 1 million residents.

Contact Tyra Smith-MacKinnon at tyramsmith@aim.com or 723-9252 for more information on the run.
