Steck, Froehlich cycle to wins

Ken Steck topped the men’s field and Hanna Froehlich the women’s in Saturday’s Treadwell Mine Cycloscross Bike Race at Sandy Beach.

Steck covered the beachfront ride and 10 loops along the Treadwell Mines Trails circuit in 39 minutes and 23 seconds. Second place finisher Collin Wiffield-Gorka and third-place Matt Callahan had times of 40:16 and 41:09 respectively.

Froehlick endured in 43:27, sixth overall, being edged by men’s fifth place finisher Croix Fylpaa’s 43:22, and was 10 minutes ahead of second-place woman finisher Hannah Steck’s 53:44.
