The one-and-only Spring Tide Scramble is Saturday at 9:30 a.m — a half hour before a minus 3.7 foot tide will drain the northern Gastineau Channel.

The Juneau Trail and Road Runners event starts at the Fish Creek Bridge on Mile 8 of North Douglas Highway. Car pooling is strongly encouraged as there is limited parking at the creek.

Participants can choose between the 4-mile “Mud Course” and 7-mile “Mountain and Mud Course.” Both courses will take racers across the Mendenhall Wetlands to a flag on the Airport Dike Trail before having them return to the island.

Pre-registration is going on now on ultrasignup.com. Search “Spring Tide Scramble.” Race day registration will be between 9-9:25 a.m. Baked goods and coffee will be available to racers after finishing.
