JDHS girls perfect on Anchorage trip

Malia Miller tallies six more goals.

The Juneau-Douglas High School girls soccer team doubled its win total over the weekend, securing victories against teams in the competitive Railbelt and Cook Inlet Conference.

JDHS won 3-0 over Wasilla and Dimond on Thursday and Friday, respectively. The Crimson Bears has 21 shots in the first half alone of their first game. JDHS then cruised to a 5-0 win over Eagle River on Saturday to conclude road trip and improve to 6-0.

“The whole trip, it’s been fantastic in that everybody has been getting minutes and everybody has been contributing,” JDHS coach Matt Dusenberry said.

Senior Malia Miller scored six goals total, four coming on Saturday against the Wolves, and senior goalkeeper Shaylin Cesar tightened her grip on the state’s all-time shutout record.

Cesar, who signed a Letter of Intent with Montana State University Billings last month, has 32 career shutouts and surpassed Service’s Brianna Linnell to move into the No. 1 spot earlier this month.

The JDHS girls play against Thunder Mountain on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at TMHS.
