Glacier Swimming Club comes up big at Ketchikan meet

Club and state records broken.

Juneau’s Glacier Swim Club swimmers competed in Ketchikan over the weekend. In addition, Thunder Mountain High School junior PJ Foy attended USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals West in Austin, Texas, last week where Foy had the highest finishes ever for a GSC swimmer. Foy set eight new GSC team records, six new state records and recorded two swims on the all-time top 100 American swim lists, making him the first ever GSC swimmer to achieve the honor.

GSC also took 23rd place for 50-meter freestyle, (the top 24 qualify for finals and place). GSC set a team record for ages 15-16 boys and open boys all ages, and an Alaska state record for ages 15-16 boys.

GSC also took 11th place in the 100-meter fly race, a GSC team record for ages 15-16 boys and open boys all ages, and a state record for ages 15-16 boys and open boys all ages. This marked the 48th fastest swim for ages 15-16 American boys all-time.

For the 100-meter freestyle race, GSC took 19th place, setting another GSC team record for ages 15-16 boys and open boys all ages, and a state record for ages 15-16 boys and open boys all ages.

Lastly, GSC took 13th place in 200 Breaststroke with yet another GSC team record for ages 15-16 boys and open boys all ages, and a state record for ages 15-16 boys. This marked the 52nd fastest swim for American ages 15-16 boys All-Time.
