Foy places in four swimming events at Speedo Winter Junior Championships

TMHS student who won state individual title takes second in 100-yard fly at national competition.

Thunder Mountain High School senior PJ Foy, 17, placed in four events during the Speedo Winter Junior Championships in Westmont, Illinois, that ended last Saturday. The event hosts the fastest 18-and-under swimmers from across the nation.

Foy, who earlier set eight state records during the Ketchikan First City Invite and was the top individual boys’ swimmer at the ASAA State swim titles in November, was one of two Juneau participants at the junior championships along with Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé junior Emma Fellman.

Foy — competing in the 17/18 and open categories — placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, second in the 100-yard fly, 15th in the 100-yard breast and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle.

He has committed to swimming for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels after graduation.
