The Empire Cup race series ended on Saturday with the 5-mile and 1-mile Veterans Day Run at Thunder Mountain High School.
Alec Nevalainen, age 41, won the five-mile male portion with a time of 30 minutes and two seconds. TMHS Falcons runners Erin Wallace, 14, and Naomi Welling, 17, were the top female runners (fifth overall) in a matching time of 35:43, a full minute faster than their high school coach Scott May.
Will Robinson, 10, won the one-mile male portion in 7:34 and Mallory Welling, 10, was the fastest female with 8:17.
Southeast Alaska Road Runners will now finalize and double check the season standings to determine the age group and overall winners for honors at the end-of-season banquet to be announced at a later date.
