Tongass Boulevard traffic pattern shifted all week

Some intersections are closed and others limited as construction moves forward.

Parts of Tongass Boulevard, located off Mendenhall Loop Road, will have their traffic patterns shifted until next Thursday as part of the next phase of the reconstruction project for the road, according to a city news release.

The intersections of Tongass Boulevard with Haloff Way and Forest Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic. To access Sitʼ Eeti Shaanáx̱ – Glacier Valley School, northbound traffic should use either Trinity Drive or Nancy Street, while southbound traffic will be limited to using Nancy Street, according to the news release.

Pedestrian footways will be maintained through the area alongside the work zones, according to the city.

Phase 1 of the reconstruction includes excavating and rebuilding the roadbed, stripping out and replacing water, sewer and storm drain infrastructure, and replacing pavement, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and other related work, according to the City and Borough of Juneau website.
