Rock Dump fundraises with movie today

The Rock Dump Climbing Gym will screen adventure movie “The Dawn Wall” at Goldtown Nickelodeon today and tomorrow to fundraise for the gym.

The film follows two American climbers who, in January of 2015, attempted to climb the 3,000-foot Yosemite National Park rock face known as the Dawn Wall. The pair, Kevin Jorgeson and Tommy Caldwell, lived on the sheer vertical cliff for weeks, drawing a frenzy of global media attention.

For Caldwell, the ascent was the culmination of a lifetime of overcoming obstacles. Caldwell was taken hostage by rebels in Kyrgyzstan at the age of 22, and lost his index finger in an accident later in life. The pair spent six years meticulously planning and practicing their route before attempting the ascent.

Tickets are $20 and $15 with a student ID. Show time is 7 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
