Assault

• On Saturday at 9:32 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of an assault at the Johnson Youth Center. Investigation revealed a 51-year-old male employee was reportedly hit over the head with a chair multiple times by a 17-year-old male inmate. The victim was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for medical treatment; assault charges will be submitted pending the completion of the troopers’ investigation.

Fire and medical

• On Friday, Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to eight EMS calls and five medical transports in the area throughout the day. At 1:10 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Egan Drive; no injuries were reported. At 3:41 p.m., firefighters responded to an active fire alarm on North Franklin Street that had been triggered by building construction. At 3:42 p.m., they were dispatched to a non-injury vehicle accident on Egan Drive and Vanderbilt Hill Road; JPD was assisted in removing the vehicle from the road.

• On Saturday, CCFR responded to eight EMS calls. At 10:05 a.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle with a fuel leak on Eighth Street; the leak was cleaned and a request was made to have the vehicle moved. At 4:11 p.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle collision on Riverside Drive; a woman was provided basic life support and taken to BRH. At 7:06 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm on Glacier Highway that had been maliciously activated. A similar incident occurred on Glacier Highway at 11:52 p.m.

• On Sunday, CCFR responded to 10 EMS calls and two medical transports. At 9:11 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm on Vista Drive, but the call was canceled due to it being a malicious activation. At 10:06 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire alarm system malfunction on Marine Way.
