The Juneau School District is in search of a new Superintendent ahead of the 2026-27 school year, and they are seeking public input on the search.
JSD posted a survey on the district website, encouraging “families, community members, employees and students” to share their thoughts.
JSD says they’re in search of a superintendent who “blends collaborative, steady, evidence-based leadership with vision, creative thinking, and adaptability.”
The six-question survey asks about the respondent’s relation to the district, qualities needed in a good superintendent and the strengths and challenges unique to running a shcool district in Juneau.
Superintendent Frank Hauser announced in October that he would be stepping down from the position at the end of the school year. Hauser stepped into the role in 2023, seeing the district through the nearly $10 million budget discrepancy that necessitated the consolidation of the district’s middle and high schools.
The survey is due by February 13.
