The Juneau Police Department is seeking information from the public that might help nab a man who robbed a local liquor store Monday night after brandishing pepper spray.

At 10:01 p.m. Monday, JPD received a 9-1-1 call from a male employee at the Liquor Barrel store in Lemon Creek reporting the robbery, JPD spokeswoman Erann Kalwara wrote in a press release. The employee stated that a man came into the store, threatened him with pepper spray, took money and then left the area on foot. The employee was not injured.

Officers arrived on scene and began an investigation and search for the suspect, who was described as being a white man about 6-foot-2, with a thin build and reddish-brown eyebrows. He was wearing a camouflage scarf or bandana over his face, gray hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes with white highlights.

The cash was placed into a black mesh bag before being taken from the store. The cash has not been recovered and the suspect has not been located. Kalwara declined to state how much money was taken or whether there was surveillance video of the robbery.

JPD urges anyone with information about the case to call the department’s non-emergency line at 586-0600 or report an anonymous tip online at juneaucrimeline.com.
