Juneau man turns himself into police, arrested on child pornography charges

He pleaded not guilty and is out on bail, according to court documents.

A Juneau man was arrested Sunday evening after turning himself into the Juneau Police Department station for a warrant related to possessing and sharing child pornography in Juneau, according to a police spokesperson.

Alexander Scott Boone, 28, of Juneau, was charged with four counts of distribution of child pornography and 10 counts of possession of child pornography, both felony charges, and was arrested on Sunday evening, said Lt. Krag Campbell. Police report shows he was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center, but court filings show he was later released on bail Monday.

He pleaded not guilty, according to court documents.

Initial charging documents for Boone were filed last Wednesday, and a $1,000 cash felony warrant was later issued by the Alaska State Troopers on Friday.

The charges indicate he was reported to have distributed pornography in October of 2022 and was in possession of the materials in December of 2022. According to the state court system, he has no apparent criminal history in Alaska.

His request for a court-appointed counsel was denied, according to court documents, and he will be required to hire an attorney by Aug. 16. During his arraignment, Boone said he did not believe he could afford a lawyer.

Boone is scheduled for a representation hearing at the Juneau Courthouse at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16.
