Juneau man indicted on charges of sexual assault and assault

A Juneau man was indicted on one charge of sexual assault and assault charges, Alaska Department of Law announced.

Joseph B. Jim Jr., 44, was indicted on April 8 by a Juneau grand jury on a charge of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of first-degree assault, one count of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree assault, according to the department. All charges are designated as domestic violence.

On April 3, Juneau Police Department received a report of an assault in a port-a-potty at Twin Lakes, according to the law department. Jim was arrested following an investigation by JPD. He is being held on $100,000 bail at Lemon Creek Correctional Center, according to the law department.

The case is being prosecuted by the Juneau District Attorney’s Office, according to the department. If convicted, the suspect faces up to 99 years of imprisonment. The next court date related to the case is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 23. Judge Amy Mead is presiding over the case.
