Facing 12 counts of child porn possession, Petersburg man still at large

A Petersburg man was indicted Thursday on 12 counts related to the possession of child pornography, and he’s still at large.

Kanin Robert Grant — also known as Robert Carle — was indicted Thursday as the result of an ongoing investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Technical Crimes Unit. According to a release from the State of Alaska Department of Law, Grant faces between two and 99 years on each of the 12 counts if convicted.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest, as he is currently at large. Grant was previously a resident of Citrus County, Florida, where he has outstanding warrants related to animal cruelty allegations. According to a posting from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office in 2015, Grant was arrested for throwing a 7-week-old puppy against a brick so hard that he killed the puppy. He was also arrested for kicking another dog so hard that he broke its leg and caused the puppy’s eye to be swollen shut (that dog, Zander, made a full recovery).

Anybody with knowledge of Grant’s whereabouts is asked to contact Alaska State Trooper Robert Bressler of the Technical Crimes Unit at 269-5511. According to a wanted posting from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office in 2015, Grant was 28 years old, 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds at the time.
