Over the years, thousands of children have read Lynne Rae Perkins’ children’s books. Tonight, a few of them in Juneau will have the chance to meet her in person.

Perkins, the author and illustrator of more than a dozen children’s books, will be at the Mendenhall Valley Library at 6 p.m. tonight. She’ll talk about some of her most well known works, such as her most recent book “Frank and Lucky Get Schooled” and Newbery Award-winning 2006 novel “Criss Cross.”

The Pennsylvania native currently lives in Michigan, but travels to libraries all over the country to share her stories in person and interact with her young readers. Perkins and her husband have been in town since this past weekend, and she spoke to students at Riverbend School earlier this week. Thursday’s event is put on by the Friends of the Juneau Public Libraries and is free and open to anyone.
