Meet the Juneau Senate Pages

As chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, one of Sen. Charlie Huggins’ responsibilities and privileges is overseeing the young people from around our state who serve as Senate Floor Staff. This year there are two Senate Pages from Juneau, Carley Moller and James Holzenberg.

Raised in Juneau, Moller is the daughter of John and Jennifer Moller. She graduated from Thunder Mountain High School in 2010. In 2014, she earned her degree in biology from Northwest University. She said she loves to gillnet salmon during the summer and has done so for 11 years. Her plans for the future are to attend medical school and become a doctor in Alaska. Until then she wants to broaden her experiences and explore her interest in state government.

Born and raised in Juneau, Holzenberg is the son of James and Elvira Holzenberg. He has been going to college part time and working various service industry jobs for the past two years. This is his first session as a Senate Page. He said he hopes to expand his knowledge on government and broaden his world-view by working at the Capitol. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fishing, reading novels and playing music.

Legislative Pages provide services and support to legislative members, including: acting as doormen of the Chambers; remaining on call in the Chambers during session; relaying messages, letters and documents to and from legislators, legislative offices and agencies; setting up committee rooms for legislative meetings; maintaining the bills, journals and other documents used in the Chambers; and driving the legislative vans as requested.
