With the change from winter to spring coming more quickly than all Juneau skiers would like, the Juneau Nordic Ski Club would like to thank Eaglecrest Ski Area for the grooming on their nordic ski trails this winter. The consistent grooming combined with the expanded nordic terrain at the Upper Loop made for quality skate and classic skiing. Additionally, the dedicated use of Trickster run for hiking to the trails made it safer for all skiers, including the youth participating in the Juneau Nordic Ski Team and 4H Cross Country Ski Programs. The JNSC and Alaska State Parks also racked up 72 days of trail grooming this season at the Mendenhall Campground, Montana Creek and Eagle Beach. By the middle of February the Eaglecrest Upper Loop was the only trail with enough snow to groom. At the time of this writing, the upper loop at Eaglecrest is being groomed for the final weekends the area is open. Thanks again to Eaglecrest, from the board and volunteers at the Juneau Nordic Ski Club.
