Grief, loss and the holidays

As the holiday season approaches, the Widowed Persons Program and Hospice & Home Care of Juneau, a division of Catholic Community Service, are co-sponsoring an event to help meet the needs of those in our community who are grieving. Celebrations, festivities and family traditions can be painful reminders of loss at this time of the year when we long to be with those we love. How can we possibly cope during the season when we are missing our loved ones so much?

For some mourners, the need for support may be the greatest during the holidays. Recognizing that everyone grieves in their own way, and that there is usually comfort in connecting with others who have experienced losses, Grief, Loss, and The Holidays will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10. We will gather in the Community Room at Fireweed Place, 515 Willoughby Ave at 5:30 p.m. The gathering is free of charge.

All in our community are welcome to attend this special evening. Snacks and round table discussion will help people learn how to navigate their way through the holiday season and possibly create new traditions that pay tribute to the memory of their loved ones. For more information, call Sue at 586-6424 or Sandy at 789-0355.
