Until Oct. 15, the downtown and airport fire stations will be collecting food for the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. The end goal is 28,000 pounds of food.
This drive, which started on Sept. 15, aims to encourage a different community group to donate during select dates. From Sept. 15-21, it’s the Juneau School District and the University of Alaska Southeast. The focus is on service clubs from Sept. 22-28, faith-based groups from Sept. 29-Oct.5 and from Oct. 6-15, it will be the federal, state and local government.
The airport fire station is located at 1700 Crest Ave. and the downtown fire station is located at 820 Glacier Ave.
