David Woodie to give lecture on current painting exhibit

Join David Woodie at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. for a free public presentation about his approach to narrative painting and his current exhibit, “New Work.” Woodie will discuss periods in the history of narrative painting that are both personal and primary creative influences. Painting selections to be discussed will include late medieval, renaissance, and baroque eras; late 19th and early 20th century painting including modernism, surrealism, and contemporary approaches.

New Work is on exhibit through October 29, 2016. The Juneau-Douglas City Museum’s summer hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.. Admission is $6 for general admission, $5 for seniors and free for ages 12 and younger. The City Museum is a Blue Star Museum offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families.
